On November 27, the Boao Forum for Asia Conference was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The conference centered on topics such as the global energy transition, green finance cooperation, technological innovation, and sustainable development. It stands as the most anticipated international policy and industry dialogue platform in the Middle East this year.
The conference attracted over 300 representatives from more than ten countries and multiple international organizations. High-level speakers delivered keynote speeches, including Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia and the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations; Liang Zhenying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jenny Shipley; and Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, CEO of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). They provided in-depth insights on global energy governance, cooperation among emerging markets, and regional development opportunities. International organizations such as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) also participated in the discussions, contributing their expertise to advance the green future.
During the industry cooperation session, multiple energy companies and institutions from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region shared cases on green investment, supply chain collaboration, and cross-regional project implementation. UAE-based GCPC Investors Limited briefly introduced its international business layout in areas such as wind power, solar power, energy storage, and hydrogen, expressing its willingness to further explore cross-regional cooperation opportunities. Zhang Jie (Horace), the China representative of GCPC, also attended the meeting and briefly exchanged views on the potential for green energy collaboration between China and international markets.
The attendees generally agreed that the global energy transition is entering a critical phase, and that strengthening transnational collaboration while promoting the interconnectivity of green industrial chains is a vital direction for future development. The Boao Forum for Asia Riyadh Conference has injected new momentum into multilateral cooperation in the Middle East and globally, laying a robust foundation for the continued deepening of regional partnerships.
